Artist, Producer, B-Boy, Beatboxer, & M.C...

D-Rek began his love for HipHop music at age 12 from a small N H town, far from any city. MTV was a major connection to the music he loved and which ispired him. With his brother (Jon Russell aka Dr.Doo), he became obsessed with the art of breakdancing, popping, and choreographing dance. Some of D-Rek's inspirations came from The Fat Boys, which inspired him to beatbox, which he still does to this day. He began writing lyrics and rapping with his brother. At around 1991 he met an older producer named Donald (DefRock) Maker, and they formed "Brainskelter". An album was created, and the group performed at many shows and parties from NH, Maine to Boston. In 1995 the Rave scene in New EEngland was thriving. D-Rek had interest to throw parties to gain noteriety and a fanbase. The others were not interested in doing so, and the group dismantled. DD-Rek then came to Boston using the name Monstamind Productions, and DefRock and Dr.Doo continued Monstamind Records in Dover NH.

D-ReK went on to throw many underground parties from the early 90's on till this day.
